Hoshiki Kiritsu Martial Arts was established in 1995 by Kyoshi Matt Charnley. Kyoshi Matt commenced his training in 1983 and has been teaching since 1991. He also holds a 4th Degree Black Belt in Zen Do Kai.
Kyoshi Matt has dedicated his life to the study of Martial Arts and has trained intensively to enable him to develop a strong, practical and comprehensive Martial Art.
In June 2018 he was awarded a 5th Dan World Ranking and Gold Card Holder of the World Kumite Organisation (WKO).
He was inducted into the Australasian Martial Arts Hall of Fame (AMAHOF) in 2018. His other achievements include:
- Diploma in Sports Coaching & Development –specialising in Martial Arts
- Held a Victorian Title in Full Contact Karate
- Held a Victorian Title in Kickboxing
- Accredited Level 1 Boxing Coach
- Martial Arts Referee & Boxing judge
Kyoshi Matt trains overseas annually in Hong Kong and Japan and has also trained in China (Shaolin Temple), Thailand & England in various disciplines such as Karate, MMA, Boxing, Thai Boxing and Mindful Wing Chun.
